The only hope they have for DE2 not being even more of a flop then DE1 is if they full repair pricefield and lean super hard into it. But even then you would still need to find a way to undo the stupid setup for an X-men thing in DE2. I really think that too much damage has been done for the 'Safi broke up Pricefield' thing to work. Maybe had that been a twist towards the end of DE1 it could have ok. But we are now very much past that.
I think the only option now for DE2 is for Max to effectively abandon the DE timeline as 'bad' and permanently jump into a new one. No x-men stuff, bae/bay fully merged, Safi (if present) is just a love interest and basically a whole new character. Effectively hard reset things, lean into the 'fish out of water' aspects from LiS 1/TC and focus on Max attempting to now adjust to this new merged timeline where she could even be married to Chloe depending on player choice. A relatively low stakes, Max focused, reflective adventure that serves to close out her story on a high note.
Sad that there is zero chance of this happening.
