Almost a 70% drop off in its second weekend, not looking good for what are supposed to be the central characters of Doomsday and Secret Wars

It seems to me the biggest issue here are the enormous budgets. The current cultural interest in the superhero nexus does not seem to exceed the massive financial investment in them from the studios. If you look back at the capeshit from 2008-2016 the budgets were lower, usually between 110-170m and now it's rare for them to dip below 200m.
