I think it's more as long as you actually have your own job and life it's all right
I moved back in with my parents during covid when i was in my early 30s (already had my own life, place, paid off all debts and loans), bc they bought 200% into the panic, also my dad's prostate cancer came back and my mom didnt want to go outside at all so i had to take him to his treatments, i did remote computer shit anyways so no big deal for me.
Covid ended and i didn't move out. Im basically squatting, i dont pay rent, i just do all the shopping/heavy lifting/landscaping (destroyed a ground hornet nest yesterday) and enjoy my time with my family; it really just works for everyone, dad's in 70s, mom will be soon, save them money for assisted living, and i keep the vast majority of my income, i can buy a car or a really shitty house without worrying about financing or mortgage, and when they eventually die, i wont have any regrets about not spending more time with them, and ill have no problem buying a house or condo if i want to move from the area, or ill just live in theirs, and have even more money lying around
