I've come to the same conclusion and I don't have much faith in Deadlock's writing. "Prequel" lore dumps are boring when the present tense is bland as is. And evidentially characters can't achieve their goals by themselves, hence the Patron, implying finality after the street war.

The best choice would be to make the street war noncanon, and operating on behalf of the Patron is a part of everyday life for the cast.

The canon was reset, the current iteration is just isolated short stories that don't add up, usually split into a character back story and character short story. Entertaining but not a coherent unified canon outside of Arcane.

Eternal blue balling about plot lines that are never explored or resolved, it's just all lore and flashbacks. PvE was trying to address this but was cancelled very quickly.
