I don't know what to do after lane and nobody on my team communicates even when I ask what I should be doing/who I should be going with/where I should be meeting up, so I kind of just wander around, sometimes following another guy who doesn't look like he knows where he's going either, and then we go to a walker and maybe sometimes kill it but more often we get interrupted and lose the fight. The build sharing system cuts out a lot of the need to really know everything in advance, so starting it isn't too miserable, especially with one or two bot games just to get the flow of things. I'll be honest I have no idea how to pace laning in this game. I'm not good enough at movement yet to rotate properly when somebody needs help, and from my experience it is impossible to defend a lane 1v2 so if I or my laning partner leave to another lane to do something it's just guaranteeing that my lane's T1 dies.

The League of Legends used to be an actual thing. The Institute of War was a fantasy UN type organization dedicated to preventing the next great Rune War from destroying their continent and thus created matches as an alternate way of settling disputes. Summoners called upon champions of various city-states or enslaved monsters to fight in small, controlled battles as a final word after diplomacy failed.
Smite has/had storylines running each season which set up teams who would make for the actual canon battle but the average one is either non-canon or the dota variety where each match is just a random fight of that cycle, that turn of the wheel.

I imagine it has to do with their maps still compiling into areas based on visibility, so they can not only just do the maths to cull what the portal can't see but the portals themselves are in a sense basically the same as any doorway due to these optimizations.

Nah, what they do is they "shelf" them for a while. All the garbage heroes will eventually be reworked like Dazzle was in 7.38. Making the changes isn't hard, but they do need to account for the chain reaction their changes will cause. With Deadlock this isn't a concern because a lot of the counters aren't even clear to players yet.

I don't know what the current incarnation of Dota's story is now that they've done tie in shit like the cartoon show and whatnot, but what I understand is that any given match is the culmination of the war between the Dire and Radiant ancients, which means that the game is consantly playing out the climax of the story. That doesn't leave any room to actually progress a story outside of just fleshing out the backstories of the characters. They seem to be doing the same thing with Deadlock, so I don't know. If they come up with a reason that the world isn't actually ending when one of the patrons gets summoned (time loops, failed ritual, third party power preventing it etc) then there could be room for them to work around it.

You generally want to go in very close and alternate between gun and melee. Your gun isn't supposed to work anywhere but close, you just want to magdump people right in the face, and then utilize his 3's passive by using melee so you don't have to reload. All in all, you wanna play Billy very aggro and give your enemies no breathing room. Here's what I cooked up so far playing around 30 games with him. If you build Billy well, you can just dump your whole mag into someone in one or two seconds.

Other side of the coin here is that a build in ASSFAGGOTS is always volatile. At any given moment you gotta pivot to buying what you need, not what you want. My most important purchase last game was Curse because the Mina and Haze on the enemy team were going to be unstoppable if I couldn't disrupt their ults.

It was a good game, clock ran out to 47 minutes and we almost lost it with them in our base twice but we manage to turn it around. It was definitely bottom of the barrel MMR though, I never bothered playing Ranked when I got into the beta.

So far Lash is the only hero that has clicked, everyone else I try I do pretty poorly with. I like Kelvin but I never win when playing him. I know Warden is really good but I can't seem to shackle anybody without CC from allies and the startup on his ult feels awkward, I always take too much damage but I'm afraid to start it too far away from the fight and waste duration.

I have seen sinclair dominate in high elo matches, he is a good character, but requires a lot mm of finesse and matchup knowledge to make the most of everyone's ults. A funny build I saw once had Sinclair just build melee and turn people into bunnies for maximum meleeing (Dont do that though).

They then put out two flaccid "just shoot more robots bro" actual forward story missions that serve to loop a couple of more guys in and placate the assholes that actually paid money for a f2p + a freebie "story" mission that's just "beat up more robots but in a way that doesn't matter while tracer's unimportant robot friend yaps at you like she's desperately praying you'll want her to be the next hero". Failing all of that they scrubbed plot away so hard that they took away the preexisting biannual story mode missions and churned out new heroes that story-wise amount to "here's another cool asshole with lasers and quirkiness". Yes I'm bitter by the way.

They do, if you put two doors opposite to each other you make an infinite hallway that works fine.
The issue is visual ie. It doesn't render enough rooms within rooms within rooms to make the infinite hallway effect look good.

You can already do that. Go on the hideout, put two opposite doors and shoot through them, you'll make a stream of bullets.
But they're still affected by falloff so do little damage and despawn after a while

The benefit of Doorman is how quick those portals can be conjured, and across a distance too.

Hell the only thing I don't like about Doorman is the ult. Layout inside too simple, only gets the bonus damage if you use it on someone with no stamina. Also as people play more, everyone is realizing how easy it is to i-frame is on a few heroes or just buy counterspell.

He had a rocket launcher that worked with charges so you could build up ammo and fire multiple, an electric bomb that makes a circular forcefield that forced enemies outside of the circle, a passive that nulls deaths and gives you lifesteal and invincibility for a couple of seconds, and an ult where you release a big electrical pulse from yourself that damages and slows enemies.
I messed around with him in the sandbox a little before they disabled being able to access WIP heroes via console. His moves seem interesting but his movement was slow and really bad iirc, but that could have just been because he wasn't finished. I also wouldn't be surprised if they rework/change a lot of stuff.

The only way I can picture it if you cast Summon Goon on a trooper it upgrades into a Goon that retains trooper AI and just pushes lane with beefed up stats and maybe some abilities it will use on enemy heroes/structures. Gun heroes are still the strongest dumbest shit late game, where ability power gets much weaker and guns just shred you. And it's much easier to build defense against spirit than guns because of armor piercing. You are probably low mmr where nobody knows how to aim and it's much easier to hit big AoE abilities. In older games a texture would have shades inherent to the way it is drawn even if some lighting effect is applied to it later in the game. These textures on this town are blank. He's one of the most versatile characters.
The goo fist counts as melee so you can go all-in with a punch build.
The splatter hits multiple times at max level, taking decent chunks of health at long range. It's good cause for a spirit build.
The cube is invuln an a heal, can be used with heal items to fully replenish anyone in a dire situation.
Ball can escape most situations whilst also acting as a stun.
Gun has a strong alt-fire which works with split shot. Gets very painful with some fire rate increases.

You need to work on your builds if you can't make him work.

Anon just because you have an item effect available does not mean you are required to use it whenever possible. The base goal is to have more stamina, both max and regen.
