yeah, i only harvested the hind legs. I know about the dangers of handling raccoons. Its a bit wasteful i suppose but less wasteful thasn just dumping a raccoon carcass into a trash bin (i kill them to protect my chickens)

Ground is 100% the way to go otherwise it tastes tough. I've eaten raccoon without grinding and it is way too tough. If you grind the meat its delicious. The closest comparison would be ground camel (which is available to me locally)

ive eaten groundhog too and the meat is similar. I have not tried grinding it though but groundhog liver is really good. Picrel is groundhog liver and homemade french fries. A gigantic gigachad groundhog moved under my shed recently and i slapped 2 rounds of subsonic 22lr into him and he immediatly survived both due to being a chonky boy but i think the last rd, which was a head shot, killed him but it took a while since he mustered the ability to retreat under the shed and i have not seen him since
