A) Koby goes AWOL because he doesn't trust Akainu with the One Piece
B) Akainu goes AWOL because he doesn't trust the WG with the One Piece
C) Akainu is who Imu possesses to use as a proxy, completing the irony of Akainu being an even bigger puppet than Kuma

Either way, Akainu will most likely be defeated as a midboss by Luffy and Sabo working together to avenge Ace. While the final boss of Laughtale will be Luffy vs Blackbeard

my guess is that after the actual conflict is over they'll still stay in Elbaph for a bit. Robin to research the Ohara books and the mural, Franky working on the sunny and helping Vegapunk treat Kuma, and the rest just hanging around, partying and sparring, then woops, a month has past. Just a month, but a lot can happen in a month. Most likely a lot of clashes between the other yonko, many of the worlds nations gearing up to go to war over higher ground in the event of the flood, Vivy and Sabo might have finally gotten into contact with each other, Blackbeard has gotten Hachinose accepted as a government island in exchange for Garp, Yamato's cover story has taken place, and Law and Kidd have recovered from their crushing defeats and are ready to make their next moves.
So basically just enough time to tick all the side plots ahead one step, ready for things to collide on laughtale
