Likewise Blackbeard has the darkness fruit, which belonged to Davy Jones, which is also a hito hito model of a god we are not yet introduced to but which is the opposite of Nika.

Davy Jones used the darkness fruit to trap/keep stuff in his "locker". We saw Blackbeard use the same move when he pulled those buildings in.
This "locker" can also pull in abstract concepts like fruit powers, which nullifies them.
Blackbeard specifically wanted this fruit because he knew of its importance and it is his destiny to have it, same as how Luffy's destiny is to have the nika fruit.
