Dragon said it before, child is the weakness of any parent. If they ever know you have a kid they will use it to destroy you. You can't let anyone know until the kid is strong enough to fend for themselves and survive

They purposefully distanced themselves and trusted the woman to raise the kids to be their successor. The kid will 100% be killed if the WG sniff out any connection to you it has, the best they can do is hope no one ever discovers it. Rocks refused to even tell his own crew that he had a wife and kids secretly. Big mom and Shakky realized it but Rocks wasn't telling anyone about it. The greatest thing a pirate can do is distance himself at least until the kid is strong enough to come find him
