nowadays we have plenty of resources & wealth in the west, you can live a comfortable life, however fashion trends force people to always stay relevant in the sexual marketplace & forces them to spend more just to stay sexually relevant. you dont need the expensive car, or if, there are many less fancy car brands that provide the same comfort without showing off, but people defenitely need the known brands that bring esteem & admiration with them. you dont need to dress in costly garbs either, good durable but less flashy brands do cost a lot also, but people need the well-known brand logo to be seen in order to signal resource-surplus to become attractive as a provider for a potential family.
