The summary of The Boss' character is ultimately that she's tired. She spells this shit out verbatim when talking with BB before their battle because Kojima doesn't understand subtlety. She's from a time where people didn't cry or bullshit but got up and did what they were supposed to do without any personal dramas, a true meaning of a soldier and a professional - that's why she says that the only thing you can believe in is 'the mission'. In spite of doing everything 'right', her life boiled down to her country abusing and taking shit away from her, her lover, her health, her child and after everything - her life.
In the end, after fighting in wars and seeing the world divided and in constant fear of nuclear annihilation, the only "truth" she can impart on BB (which he will misunderstand because he's a fucking turbo retard) is that what matters is respecting each other because we're from one planet and should just all chill. This melts the brain of everyone (especially looking at the world recently kek) because blacks/whites/muslims/christians all fucking hate and resent each other and aren't smart or grown up enough to admit that she's right and we'd all be better off if we cooperated. Then, being a true professional and wanting to save the world, she suicides by BB.
The corrupt system that used The Boss up in the first place (Soviets, CIA, etc.) is still there, everyone misunderstands - Zero gets ass cancer from a very badly written character, AI is made and instantly mutates to just shit out proxy wars, etc, the person who was supposed to carry her will (BB) is a fucking retard.
The only people who "get it" are Ocelot and Solid Snake and ultimately they succeed in at least unfucking the damage made by Zero and BB.
