Art isn't about what's "necessary". Is a shot of a sunset or a beautiful landscape necessary? No, but it adds to the production the same way a beautiful woman does. If you want "necessary" go read scripts or watch those soulless marvel movies that have nothing but expositional talking, quipping and fighting.
