First of all, all social media is tracked and recorded. Secondly, it offers a way to organize for better or worse, mostly worse. Social media was invented by western int agencies in order to topple foreign autocratic societies, so it's a weapon. If you're against people owning guns, you should really square that up with people being able to organize and use information as propaganda, because the pen is mightier than the glock.
Thirdly, social media removes that private time you used to have after socializing, now you're constantly connected to these people whom you need space and time away from, if not for anything else but your own mental health. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, even if you consider that being in constant connection with others is brilliant.
Fourthly, it creates echo chambers in a much faster and easier way, so people radicalize extremely quickly, regardless of their positions. Discord is an accelerant of ideas. People didn't evolve to be in constant contact with others at all times, no matter how good you think that is. There's a reason divorce spiked during the pandemic when people were actually forced to be in proximity to each other. You may argue that Discord doesn't place strangers or family members in the room with you but what it does do is eliminate the mystery of the stranger because familiarity breeds contempt, and contempt leads to social fragmentation and then dissolution.
Fifth point, it's one more step towards complete elimination of irl socialization, replacing it with a digital world in which everybody is constantly connected to the point where their digital identities replace their real identities, that's how alternative lifestyles start. If you think SecondLife is "icky" realize discord is worse because it's more pervasive and flies under the radar. Add to that the constant watchful eye of A.I. and you've got a perfect digital prison.
