Dear Valve,
I am writing on behalf of countless Team Fortress 2 players who wish to respectfully request that you reconsider the nerf applied to the Ullapool Caber, the Demoman’s unique and explosive melee weapon. While I understand balance adjustments are a natural part of a competitive multiplayer game’s lifecycle, the Caber’s current state unfortunately feels like a shadow of what made it beloved in the first place. This message is not an angry demand, but rather a passionate appeal to restore the spirit of one of TF2’s most iconic, entertaining, and community-loved items.
The Ullapool Caber was never just a weapon. It was a statement piece—an embodiment of TF2’s trademark chaotic fun. Unlike other melee weapons, the Caber provided Demoman players with a singular opportunity to create unforgettable, high-risk, high-reward moments. Charging into a group of enemies, detonating with a mad cackle, and possibly taking someone down even at the cost of your own life was not only balanced by its suicidal tradeoff, but it also made the game’s storytelling richer. TF2 has always thrived on moments that are both hilarious and skillfully executed, and the Caber was a reliable generator of such stories.
The current nerf diminishes that magic. By weakening its explosive payoff, the Caber has lost the distinct identity that justified choosing it over other melee options. The Demoman is already a class built around indirect damage and tricky positioning, so taking away his one wild melee trump card reduces variety in playstyles. In a game as old as TF2, keeping weapons distinct and flavorful is arguably more important than raw balance parity.
Therefore, I humbly ask Valve to restore the Ullapool Caber to its former glory. Reverting the nerf would not unbalance the game, but it would bring back a spark of joy and unpredictability that only this weapon can provide. Thank you for your time, and for continuing to support the game we all love.
Sincerely,
cum
