Who's your earliest known ancestor? Only people you're directly related to count not some random hearsay. For me it's a Protestant German farmer, by the name of Hans, who immigrated to America in the 1750's. He's my father's father's father's father's father's father's father's father's father.

I live in the rural Midwest and I don't care about the rest of the country outside of where I live (and regularly drive), much less about foreign wars. I love history and shit but this is the only place I have roots and nothing outside of it really affects my life, it's all just an intangible abstraction. My daily life and all of my experiences revolve around here, the land and the people. This is also why I don't believe in patriotism. I've been to other parts of the country and different countries in Europe but this still doesn't affect my life as soon as I go home.
