It took the overall lack of death from Wario Lands 2 and 3, but the game is more about trying to keep your combo while running through collecting stuff. I think it does its own thing pretty well. An inexperienced player might struggle just getting A-ranks at first but still enjoy just beating the levels, while a pro player can enjoy going fast, getting everything, keeping your combo, and completing lap 2. But personally I think P-ranks are usually just a good challenge and really get you the most out of the game. Also I think the levels have a nice flow for running and jumping around while still having some silly gimmicks to change it up a bit, along with great atmosphere and music.
