It is very fun. Defined classes, and a somewhat unique perk building system for fleshing them out even more. Bots got updated to scale with difficulty, so you can push up on your own easier.
And there are mods for even better bots and other stuff. Mods disable public matchmaking, but otherwise you're free to muck about without having your progression or gains affected.
