No, nameplates look incredibly ugly and hide way too much especially if the place is crowded.
I always have them turned off but have mouse-over tips on. Webm related. I'm so glad that functionality exists, it's literally perfect.

If you're REALLY hardcore you don't even have those tips on but I'm not such a lvl 9001 wizard yet.
