It reminds me of "not like the other girls". I'm not sure if females who described themselves as such made better gfs (they did tend to portray themselves as tomboyish), but there was a big movement a few years back to twist that around for female empowerment and camaraderie. It feels kind of unfortunate even if it may have been a "special snowflake" thing.
