For most of Europe a scenario where SHTF overnight and you're fucked unless you have a gun is impossible. Our kind of SHTF is a slow burn of Europe becoming a progressively shittier place to live like South America.

Do you like guns? Do you like shooting them? Do you want to have something to defend yourself in the statistically unlikely case someone breaks in your house?
Then buy them, but if your only concern is SHTF then you're better off buying a water purification system, a generator and stock at least a week of food and medicines.
