For some reason city games always make roundabouts look like junctions... perhaps because they only have the technology to create junctions and refuse to implement proper lane merging mechanics.

Arrows shouldn't tell you "Turn right" when you're driving forwards to your exit. You shouldn't have to turn to get off the roundabout - you turn to stay on it!

I was always disappointed by how rigid Cities Skylines road builder was. You couldn't make IRL junction merges because the game wanted everything to be 90 degrees and would only be haggled down to 45 degrees.

I believe the intention is to allow multiple high volume routes to use the same intersection at the same time without one slowing the other down.
Or in other words, if you ever played Factorio or another game with actual train mechanics... have you ever used "path" signals? Have you ever found that trains get bottlenecked at roundabouts? Ever solved it by making the trains decide themselves to go either way around the roundabout rather than exclusively clockwise/anti-clockwise? Imagine that but for cars.
It's not particularly enjoyable but roundabouts aren't that enjoyable to drive on to begin with.
