I don't understand one of the most core aspects of Sonic the Hedgehog series.

How come Eggman can't defeat Sonic? Ingame he can take over the whole world despite the presence of every other of Sonics friends who are just about as capable as Sonic in terms of savior feats.

In the comics he seems to be able to get and manipulate and terrorize EVERYONE else in the world. From Sonic's friends to Sonic's other enemies.

So, why exactly, does Sonic give him such trouble? Is super speed THAT much of a threat? He's a 300 IQ guy. You tellin me he can't make a trap or a mech that can deal with one blue hedgehog?
