The the movie deflates to literally children's TV horror like Goosebumps only less frightening.

The final 10 minutes are literally Shawn of the dead comedy level and can play Benny hill music.

What this movie proved is the less you understand something the more frightening it is.

After you know the magic system it is a normal movie or Goosebumps only less frightening. Reminded me of the blob/slime episodes of Goosebumps.
