>Why do english vidya actors receive such little respect from the industry
Less professional, less range, less giving a shit about the content they voice, less giving a shit about the audience, way more politicized and way more entitled and lame. But the biggest fault is with the audience because they would rather listen to shitty western VAs than admit that other industries have better standards for and VAs, so it's a self inflicted gunshot to the neck, and they deserve to stew in their self imposed exile in filth.

First, it was the cheapest DVD player on the market, and DVD was the new sex at the time. No more rewinding, better image and sound, menus, etc.
People take for granted what a big deal that was in the day.
It was hyped like crazy, the cell processor was said to be sophisticated enough that embargo kept it from enemies of the west.
Backward compatibility was great for a few, and good in hindsight, but back then people were less savvy and more into the new thing.
Never mind that the games for it were so good they are getting remade and "remastered" to this day.
Except for the controller (debatable) it was pretty much the most perfect piece of gaming hardware ever made.
