You know what?
I think SotE (written just by From) compared to Elden Ring (written/helped by a proper author) proves that what works in books for narrative just doesn't work in a game because of how games are. It needs a little more pineapple on the pizza if you know what I mean. A little more quirkiness. ER was more traditional narrative perhaps which I like in books far more than quirk in books (tragedy and surreal is just better than uncanny). I think Kojima proves what clicks best in games more, which is just applicable to book writing. You'd have more success with screenplay and film producers though. They have a similar boat at times and often movie adaptations for books just fucking suck or completely outdoes the source. It's rare to get a LotR situation with the film and the book where both do well in their own means, LotR just got lucky that Jackson did it (a slasher film producer who knew what would work).

Hence why Miquella's change in SotE just clicked for more people. He was kinda boring in the original. Too game of thrones and clean. They perturbed him and it just worked better for me. Made him interesting. Made him sorta strange and uncanny.
