There could be a two-parter to the flashbacks, this first one leads us into the present day conflict and a secondary, smaller flashback detailing Lola’s rejection and/or Shanks and Elbaph teaming up to bind Loki. My current theory is Loki fell in love with Lola because she is more “plain” just like Ida, the only woman to show him genuine love and support. Her rejection may have led to the melty that had Shanks and Elbaph team up to bind him.
