Not to go off on some boomer tangent about the honor of mutual combat, but I'll never, ever step foot on a modern battlefield because of drones.
>middle ages: You had to go right up to the fucker and stab him, or you might get hit with a crossbow bolt, but you at least had a (literal) fighting chance
>1700s: You stand in a firing line and exchange volleys like fucking men. Pure luck as to whether the smoothbore musket actually hits you or not
>WWI & 2: The guy trying to kill you had to line you up with ironsights from a long rifle at an average distance of 100-200 yards. If you were unlucky, you found a sniper or some fucker with artillery manages to land a lucky hit. Even unluckier if a plane drops a bomb on you
>Vietnam: Gooks hiding in a bush can ambush you, but you're still only engaging in 10-50 yard distances and if you're skillful enough, you can fight them on the same terms
>GWOT: Some arab in a building can spray at you with an AK, or plink rounds at you from a mountainside, but you're still generally safe with the exception of IEDs and RPGs
>Today: Some skinny teenager with a VR headset can find and kill you no matter where you are, how well protected you are, and will drop multiple grenades on top of your head and watch you die, then post it on Telegram
FUCK THAT. Put me in a fucking plane or something. If there's drones, I'm not going.
