so actually, the yakuza members in shido's palace don't wear masks either. the leader wears sunglasses which might still fit.
but it bring up the question of why? i can assume either:
>it's a mistake which might also mean cognitive goro not wearing a mask is also a mistake/the devs didn't consider the pattern when writing those scenes
>it's intentional (likely along with cognitive goro not wearing a mask). if so, i assume it would have to mean shido sees his relationship with the yakuza as incredibly simple and he thinks he knows the yakuza's full intentions with their deals with him.
i lean towards it being intentional. but i'm also biased to the thought of cognitive goro not wearing a mask being intentional as well because it fits perfectly.
i also saw a nip theorize it meant he thinks he can trust the people not wearing masks. which might make sense if he thinks those people won't ever betray him. it would fit him thinking goro is just a puppet who will do whatever shido asks. but it also seems odd at the same time because shido sees keeping goro around as too dangerous and was going to dispose of him for those reasons.
so i'm not sure about this theory.
but what do you guys think?
i think it makes more sense to see it as an unmasking/knowing someone's true intentions (if even intentional).
