One of Flynn's critics employs a lot of logical fallacies in her arguments. I actually wish to undertand these fallacies better, because it is common in this tribalistic community.
Regardless. This person employs
Ad Hominen: Attacking the person. "Ian Flynn no one visits the escapist to see you masturbate. God the ego on this fucking guy."
Genetic Fallacy: Attacking the origin. "Also need to point out once again he states he grew up reading the comics NOT PLAYING THE VIDEO GAMES just for the record."
Hasty Generalization: Broad, negative conclusions are drawn from limited evidence (a single quote from an article, hearsay about who ended the Archie deal). The entire scope of Flynn's work and its reception is judged based on these cherry-picked points
Straw Man: For instance, they reduce his complex creative process of adapting to a new comic continuity to simply reusing old, "inappropriate" notes with no regard for the new setting "Apparently you repurpose the story notes you never got to use even though the story is wholly inappropriate for the new setting?"
Poisoning the Well: By preemptively labeling Flynn's ideas as "extremely questionable" and his agendas as negative, she primes the reader to reject any of his creative decisions without fair consideration. : "And you mould the books and now the games to suit your own extremely questionable ideas and to suit your agendas."
No True Scottman: Only game fans should write game characters. Apparently.

The movies brought up new fans, and people like this try to (pointlessly) gatekeep them. It just comes off as pretentiously rude.

I prefer to think this Sonic met Caliburn, it's my comfy headcanon. A former swordman/knight teaching a kid to use a sword is cool.
