Far in the past, yes. I think Celestia has become much too well adjusted and stable for her to actually go Daybreaker by the time the show starts. Maybe if there were an incredible amount of work put into building it up and reaching that point.

Absolutely not. I think considering them as separate beings robs Luna, Nightmare Moon, Celestia, and Daybreaker of core parts of their characters. It strips agency from them and makes them lame.

I love Daybreaker so much it's unreal. Just having her in my mind invigorates me.
