I don't watch a lot of NBA, but is it safe to assume that the NBA gifted the Mavs Cooper Flagg for gifting the Lakers Luka Doncic?

I guess I'm what you guys would call a "casual". I like the Cincinnati Reds, but I only halfway follow them. I guess my question is this...what are our chances to even make the playoffs this year? we seem to be hooked on .500.
