There's a reason I draw a line between pre-2018 (or pre-2020 as that's when the fallout of these policies became really evident) and post-2020 Japanese games. The last ecchi games released in 2019, usually censored on Playstation while uncensored on Switch and PC, and after that they all died or went dormant and fanservice in Japanese games declined significantly across the board, coupled with increasing "western"-influenced decision-making like body type A/B and almost every game with romance options having to cater to fags now. Eventually Steam and Nintendo adopted Sony's policies as well, effectively completely deplatforming the last remaining otaku ecchi games. Sony's policies precipitated a major shift in the industry as a whole and it aggravates the hell out of me to see people downplay their impact.
