if you don't have exacerbating conditions - just water is probably fine
But prolonged fasts require electrolytes, and some other vitamin supplements
I am on day 9 of 12 (dinner plans on the 18th, refeed over the 17th.)
I did 12 days fasted in September.

I believe prolonged fasts are the answer, particularly if you are overweight or obese.

The memed snake diet electrolyte solution works:
1tsp potassium chloride
1tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt. non iodized salts without anti-caking agents are recommended. I use pickling salt.
1/2 tsp magnesium sulfate
Magnesium sulfate, or epsom salt, tastes terrible and can have a variable laxative effect. I recommend a substitution. Haven't tried magnesium citrate but it might be a good option (hear flavor might make it the best option)
Magnesium bisglycinate doesn't dissolve well (solution requires repeated agitation to mix the chalky powder) but it's very gentle on the gut, no laxative effect, is suppose to absorb well, and has neutral flavor.
Different magnesium forms will require a conversion rate - ask your friendly local AI data beast.

Dissolve into 2-3L of water and sip electrolyte water throughout the day. Plain water will cause you to LOSE electrolytes constantly in urine. This is why the "dry fast" meme arose as it is the brute force (no tools required) means of hanging on to electrolyte balance but I wouldn't recommend it.
You could be a bunch of no-sugar (no glucose) electrolyte packets like the plain varieties from LMNT.
I believe prolonged fasts are a strong option for anyone carrying excess fat.

It's really not that hard. Hunger fades after 1-3 days. This period is shortened by easing into the pure fast by trailing last feeding days with a keto diet.
The primary issue is the BOREDOM.
Planning meals, buying meals (the travel), buying ingredients, preparing meals, eating the meals, cleaning up after eating the meals. Even more free time is hard on the robot.
Best? A pissing contest.

Diogenes is the most based though.
