I legitimately don't believe that this site can be improved before the fabric of society can begin to heal itself. Mobile internet with smart phones and Social Media has done a significant amount of damage to how people interact with one another - not just in real life, but online. The internet is no longer a place for escape but another extension of your real life personality. Prior to social media, it was well accepted to keep these lifestyles contained and separated. 4chan was an escape from the dogma created on traditional forums but has since created its own dogma of contrarian personalities. Bad actors and well-poisoning also play a huge role in the discourse: calls to action are quickly labeled glowy/fed yet people complain endlessly on any popular board.
4chan is simultaneously downwind and upwind of the zeitgeist, so anything going on in the global state of the internet will also influence the discourse here. Most options discussed in the thread will probably result in small drops in the bucket for galvanizing positive change, as they tend to hinge on some sort of bias.
