This isn't as outlandish as it sounds.
If modern tribal people are indicative of caveman-type people at all: a man would go and steal a few piglets from a wild sow and have his wife wet-nurse them so he could raise his own pigs at home. Primitive people still do this today, it's cheap and breast-fed wild boar grow up into gentile fat pigs.
