Fire Emblem Three Houses sorta grew on me during my first playthrough but by the time it did I was 45 hours in and sorta realizing all of my beef with it in better detail.
>If you are not interested in the sales pitch of running a knight academy and teaching/grooming a bunch of teenage students simply do not bother, I think even fans of the game can agree on that
>Said premise requires that all of said students start in blank slate classes and have minimal unique traits so you can mold them into whatever you want, meaning the game basically has no unit identity for the students
>No weapon triangle and no class restrictions on who can use martial weapons or bows makes a lot of the weapons feel basically interchangeable until the late game where class skills make it matter more, this is mostly a neutral point but I don't like the weapon types being so similar, personally.
>The majority of support conversations are either "I'm such a terrible person because I had to steal bread to feed my family but I swear I'll change" or "My life is so hard because I'm a prince/princess boohoo" and it gets very tiring. Some characters are not like these or are a little more nuanced but the cast is on the whole my least favorite from an FE I've played (7,8,9,13,14,15,16,17).
>Some people beef with the FEs that have self-insert protags and I have a lot to say about that but Three Houses makes me agree with these people. Dimitri is way better of a protagonist than Byleth and we don't get to see the game through his eyes. It's not even like the other avatar games where the player character is still as written as dudes like roy and ike, all byleth gets are player choice dialogue and implications from other characters that he's basically soulless most of the time.
>the game is fucking ugly, absolutely putrid, I hate that KT made the first HD FE
I played it because I kept seeing people post cute Lysithea art. She sucks.
