There was a commercially available version and the US Army insisted on doing their own version that sucked worse and was more expensive after years of development. Possible incompetence but it makes you wonder where did the years and money go when soldiers willingly ditch theirs for the commercially available version. The actual costs of making shit must be far lower once corrupt military nonsense magically goes away.
