It's a racket, too expensive for being digital cards in physical you always have the option to sell your collection or trade for cards you want. Not so for digital so this medium should be a cheaper option to physical but it's not. So I just quit even though I really enjoyed HS and Magic Arean it's not worth it paying upwards of 300 dollars every expansion.
Though the best card game I played was Duelyst the concept was top tier but the balance killed the game. All card games suffer from the same thing which is the ability to balance individual cards around themselves and their synergies so they lazily balance prebuilt decks instead so the decks the devs want you to build become meta and any sort of experimentation is punished.
That is what kills tcg's for me at it's core not the money or the balance but the cookie cutter deck metas and lack of experimentation.
