It really isn't. The point stands that conceptually they aren't interesting, they have no agenda of their own, and they didn't bother making much of any visual differences for the average Mao or Si.
Then there are also the gripes that the Si only appeared for one (1) frame in the intervallo BEFORE the canto, and the Mao played little role outside of Zilu. Awful faction to base your core canto functionality around.
