Did Cali laws get better without me knowing?

I was at a gun store today and they were selling AK's in by 39 with just a fixed mag. I thought you had to have a fin-grip and a fixed mag. I seriously didn't know this, and they had AR's with fins and detachable mags, sadly only 10 rounds though.
