That's the problem with American leftism as a whole. It's an all-in. They (somehow...) collectively decided that they were morally superior, and turned all discussion into a moral debate rather than an ethical, economic or even emotional debate. It became a religion.
If you assume you have a moral "right" to getting your way, you instantly need to die for "rights" at every turn.
The problem with that, which is distinct from something like a religious moral imperative, is that they took bizarre concepts which they invented less than a decade ago and decreed them as dogmatic for a short term (10 years) gain.
Now they have to go down with the sinking ship, lest their entire ideology suddenly be "found out" to be a made up, moral all-in, which it is.
They destroyed American peace, and for what? So blacks can have the same rights they had before? So trannies can be called different pronouns? They didn't even achieve Socialized healthcare.
It's over for them because now they have no out.
If they relent and take back all the ridiculous extremist fantasy garbage they've peddled for 10 years, they'll be seen as weak and all their actual moral ideologies will be co-opted by their fake ones, and they'll become unbelievable and lose elections.
If they keep doubling down on insane ideas, continuing to bully and ostracize normies (which normies now have figured out) they'll lose elections.
They've got a 10 year period of clean up where they're going to have zero power.
