Well, yes, the multipolar world is collapsing, but I think this also *is* the multipolar world in practice and reality, it's just not what people who thought it'd be some kind of "order" expected.
You're describing nonlinear dynamics, like an unstable ecosystem in which small changes can have unpredictable, second-order effects, particularly affecting "weak links" in the chain of life (or the "weak links" in the international system). This can be positive and negative. Like reintroducing wolves into a national park decades after they were hunted down can be positive because they eat the elk which were overgrazing. Or you could introduce toads into Australia to control the sugar cane beetles, but turns out the toads have a toxic chemical that kills native predators so it crashes the native species.
