>ai is a tool just like a pencil. nobody blames the pencil for their inability to draw proportionately
AI is not a tool like a pencil. Ai is a tool like an automatic lawnmower, or like the other anon said, like a roomba. It's not something you use to get the job done, it's something you tell what the job is, and it does the job for you. And if your lawnmower or roomba starts smearing shit all over the place, you'd be pretty pissed.
>ai artists are not bound by fads or whales
Actually wrong. AI can by definition only draw what other people have drawn. AI can never and will never be able to create something wholey unique, because "Artificial intelligence" is a marketing misnomer. It has no intelligence. AI is a remix-tool, with a FUCKHUGE ton of references both for text, and image, that lets you re-mix references into "new" images. But since AI has no actual intelligence, it can't come up with things not referenced. That's why when you ask it to draw a glass of wine full to the brim or almost overflowing it will draw you a nearly full glass, but it has trouble drawing an actually fully topped up glass. Because 99% of all references it has do not have the glass that full. If you ask it to draw an analog clock showing the time 6:35, it will likely draw 10:10. Because that's the most common clock reference. Why before it went viral when you asked it how many "r"s there are in strawberry it came up with wrong answers. Why it told you to put glue in your pizza for stringy cheese pulls, or eat 2 to 3 small rocks a day. Because it's just a remix tool, repeating shit. You couldn't make it do Ghibli style, without Ghibli references.
And that is why if AI kills "real" artists, everything is gonna get 10 times shittier. Because you will kiss originality bye bye. It's gonna be like No Mans Sky infinite planets: "oh, This one has purple skye, red grass, and orange clouds" It's gonna be the same shit, shuffled around in new ways.
