Who gives a shit? I bought the new Spelljammer because I thought the new art was pretty good and the collector edition sets looked nice. I intentionally learned nothing about it before it came out so that I could be surprised. Well I was: it was trash. So know what we did? Kept playing in 2e Spelljammer. The only "harm" it did was that new players were interested in something I already loved. And the $100 I guess, but whatever.
