Compare the way CSM handles sexuality to One Piece, Bleach, JJK, Naruto, DBZ, etc. I'm not saying it's some ultra deep psychological series, yet it's absolutely clear that it treats that particular theme more deeply than the truly massive shonen franchises.

You can't seem to be able to fathom that while shock factor can bring in a good-sized niche audience (that may only look at that one particular chapter), it can also turn away the true mass audience.
Lin and Fujimoto themselves have both pointed out that CSM does not attempt to go for the general Jump audience. Instead, they try to pick some people outside of the expected audience of a Jump manga, to diversify the demographic of the Jump audience.
In specific, Fujimoto referred to his audience as the kind of people who have gotten sick of the expected manga tropes and the lack of ambition by writers, and thus read Fujimoto's works in order to see something that might actually surprise them.
