If you dont get hit you have no need to use silk attacks. The way I see things is that these burst high damage spells are something you pull out with the mentality "I need to kill this nigger before he kills me", but if you are good enough to not get hit this is moot. At that point you are just expediting your victory. Useful for a speedrunner, meaningless for the regular player.
