Posts like this are killing me, I've been waiting 11 years but mayyyybe I just have to wait a little longer. Seems really dumb to finally upgrade right before a big paradigm change. I'll be stuck with no upgrade path but a complete rebuild and everyone will be running around getting 500fps in 8k running 30c temps with their super computers meanwhile my long awaited upgrade will be old hat before the warranty even runs out.
I know this isn't really how it would be but that's how it feels. I feel paralyzed not knowing what the right choice will be. I can't wait forever I suspect this thing only has a little time left before it gives up the ghost. And there are games on the horizon I want to play. But for a once in a decade build I really wanted to go all out for once.

That's a risk I am hesitant to take again

To be fair he's right, alcohol is kind of insane if you think about it. It's one of the most destructive substances known to man. It has caused more death and suffering than all drugs combined by an incalculable number.
Everyone knows it's one of the worst things you can put into your body and it shortens your lifespan and makes your quality of life go down. It's the cause of millions of battered and abused wives and children. The cause of millions of splattered bodies on the street. And yet we just collectively agree to not regulate it at all and push it everywhere and barely even care when our children use it.
I was just watching one of those crime youtube videos the other day and the police stopped some kid walking to school because they thought he looked like the perp they were looking for and he was just drinking a fucking beer and they didn't give a shit and just let him keep it.
It's insane but we like feeling drunk so much we just collectively agree to let the world be a much worse place.
