>News & Rumors
RTX 50 Super: might launch in Q4 '25, 24GB VRAM for 5070 Ti & 5080 Super, 18GB for 5070 Super.
ASUS WOLED with TrueBlack Glossy film launched (XG32UCWMG, XG32UCWG). Limited availability.

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: worth considering if it's significantly cheaper than the 9070 XT.

Intel 13 & 14th gen i7/9 -K CPUs: BIOS update required due to reliability issues. Recommended to set a CPU VR voltage limit (1.4 or 1.45V).

>Product Notice
Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

There's always going to be new tech coming out, you have to draw the line in the sand somewhere. I got the 5070 for MSRP and it does everything i need it to just fine at 1440p. Realistically though, will you even be able to get the refreshed cards at MSRP at release? I refuse to pay scalper prices
Anonymous No.106304913 [Report]
>>106304680
Even for 4k it's going to be fine, 16gb on a mid range card is very firmly in the "gpu will be too slow before memory is an issue" category.
Even the 12gb on the 5070 isn't too sketchy unless you plan on trying to make it last nearly decade or want an internal resolution higher than 1440p with high settings in new AAA games (which nothing other than the 5090 can do anyways)
24gb/18gb super cards I'm assuming they're targeting ai nigs + attempting to challenge any perception that Nvidia skimps on vram (which they do but the practical effects of that are exaggerated)

And those cards were only added on the polish nvidia site some time after release, on release day their site was still shilling 40 series as hot new stuff and linking to sold out AIB 40 series cards. Meanwhile you could purchase FE models on German Nvidia site since release (not really, because bots purchased them before the countdown stopped)

There's definitely some extra CPU overhead on NVIDIA's side.
You have 5700X3D and 5900X powering some of the top 10 5070 Ti records in the world.
The CPUs listed in the top 10 for the 9070 XT make a lot more sense, even that 14600KF.

The CPU sets the ceiling of how hard you can push the video card in these benchmarks.
3DMark benchmarks don't benefit much from X3D's 3D-Vcache, so 13/14th gen i9 CPUs can compete very well vs other CPUs.
If the GPU driver isn't causing as much CPU overhead, you shouldn't be seeing less competitive chips like the 5900X (effectively a better binned 5600X in gaming) & 5700X3D in the global top 10 results.

You don't see those older CPUs in the 5080 & 5090 global top 10s because higher-end cards attract more dedicated overclockers who will better tune their CPU & memory.

Meanwhile Zen 6 is the first redesign of the IOD for AMD since 2022 and promises a huge uplift as well (most likely from higher clocks) over the 5% uplift Zen 5 got over Zen 4. 2026 is looking like a major inflection point for CPUs.

I don't understand why AMD and/or Nvidia didn't do that this gen honestly. They know that they can sell every bleeding edge-node chip from TSMC for idiotic margins to AI/ML buyers and that would leave nothing available to sell to gamers so why not move their consumer lineup to a slower but much cheaper process that isn't capacity limited and not desirable by those big money clients? If I were in charge of their graphics divisions I'd either have done that years ago or stopped selling gaming graphics to consumers all together. Trying to Solomon's Baby the situation by forcing both markets to share the same coveted fab line allocation space is the worst of both worlds (major opportunity cost of missed AI dies + overly expensive gaming dies in short supply).

Why did I buy this giant water-filled brick of a cooler if it only gets used during shader compilation? If Intel solves 3D cache for themselves, becomes worthwhile in DIY and yet also still manages to suck up as much power as a GPU, then maybe that AIO will really have to pull its weight. Might even lead to innovations in radiator and case design, which is of course more things to consoom.

Alright here's my suggestion:
1. Watch for sells on the 9800X3D/Combos during Black Friday November as recent news is AM5 will be supported through at least Zen 7 (4 more years of upgrade path).
If there's a good deal pull the trigger then because that's a guaranteed platform option and no real worthwhile GPU breakthroughs are happening until 2027.
2. If Black Friday sales are a bust, wait until Zen 6 (AM5) & Nova Lake (new Intel socket) launch next year and pull the trigger then as both options will have years of future upgradeability behind them (see >>106309205) and don't worry about next-gen GPUs afterward as they progress on a faster cadence than CPUs anyway so there's no point trying to time them.

Make sense?

You can buy things like this without storage and put your own nvme in it.

The only suggestion I have is you buy a U CPU and not H. If you buy H it will have more fan noise and any recent U CPU from either side will probably be overkill.

It'd still be an IGP system (usually) so the only ones you'd have to worry about are any proprietary components. Like if they used an OEM WiFi chipset for example. Ideally you avoid those super-proprietary PCs in favour of (near-)standard ATX. Bit more research involved ofc - trade time for money. Up to you.

Anonymous No.106312008 [Report]
>>106311970
If you can afford an OLED, you get an OLED so the Neo G7 LCD is an auto-discard.
The S90D 42" is a sneaky move by Samsung since it also uses LG's WOLED panel and not their QD-OLEDs found in their 55"+ sizes:
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/s90d-s90dd-oled-qd-oled#page-test-differences
So literally whichever between it and the C4 happens to be cheaper, though I don't recommend the 42" TVs for monitor use because their pixel density is poor compared to the 27"/32" 4K monitors plus they have worse refresh rates (only 144Hz vs. 240Hz+) and in the case of QD-OLED monitors better color volume/gamut coverage as well.
