Entergy was going to use multiple modular nuclear reactorss to power all the AI data centers being built in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Tennesee over the next few years. I think its 37 going to be built over the next 5-7 years and Entergy was going to announce a few months ago they wanted to use the modular nuclear reactors to power all of them but could not get the NRC on board. They are now putting in 3 new pipelines from Alabama across Mississippi to fuel 7 new NG power plants that are already starting construction. The one in Richmond Parish Louisiana, Greenville Ms, Vicksburg Ms, and Kosciusko Ms are already breaking ground now. All NG plants to power data centers. I think there are 2 more getting started next year, and 2 or 3 more getting started in 2027.
Entergy is building a 3300 mw facility across the street from the data center in Richmond Parish. The estimates are the data center will require 2500 mw and the plant will be able to sustain and run the data center with power to spare for future advances and local grid power.
There is also another NG plant being built 45 miles away in Vicksburg, its supposedly going to be about 1500 mw
There is also the Nuclear power plant in Port Gibson which is only about 60 miles away as a crow flies
There is also the Nuclear power plant at Baton Rouge
The data center is supposed to draw more power than the whole city of New Orleans at peak summer load. Thats kinda nuts really.
