There were a few posts last thread that got it right but basically it's been so long since Halo was a gaming powerhouse that at this point the "idea" of Halo is more culturally relevant than the actual Halo games themselves.
So Helldivers can get away with this because there's no actual Halo gameplay for people to criticize and get bored of. It's just the aesthetic, and over a decade removed from prominence, that's all people really resonate with at this point anyway.
It's the reason you can easily find videos of 20+ zoomers vibingbout to singing the Halo theme in a bathroom or cave or anywhere with an echo, even though most of them have probably never touched one of the games.
